Professor

Department of Statistics and Data Science Institute University of Chicago

I develop and study statistical and machine learning methods for analyzing complex data. Data can be complex for a variety of reasons, including measurement characteristics (e.g., high dimensionality, multimodality, and complex noise structures), underlying latent structures, and experimental or sampling schemes. Modern applications often involve a combination of these factors. My research spans generative models, multiscale methods, nonparametric inference, and Bayesian inference and computation. My current work focuses on the statistical assessment and diagnostics of generative models and AI algorithms.
